Tehri Lake Adventure Festival

Tehri Lake Adventure Festival, two day event at Tehri Lake was organized from 28 Nov to promote the lake as an adventure sports destination. The event was inaugurated by Harish Rawat (Chief Minister of Uttarakhand State), Mahesh Sharma (Union Minister for Tourism, Independent Charge) & Dinesh Dhanai (Uttarakhand State Tourism Minister). Tehri Lake is 90 kms far from Rishikesh, 110 kms far from Dehradun and 300 kms far from Delhi. The festival is mainly focused on promoting adventure activities at the lake such as Rafting, Kayaking, Paragliding, Canoeing, Parasailing, Speed Boating, Water Zorbing, Hot Air Balloon, Para Jumping. The House Boat stay option will be also came into effect after development. The local people are excited to see the development as it will bring employment and overall growth in the area. The Tehri Lake was created as artificial lake in 2005 due to construction of Tehri Dam. The Tehri Dam has approx 42 square kms area. The Tehri Dam is located on Bhagirathi River in Tehri District. The other projects such as Botonical Park and Fishing activities are also in pipeline.
