Uttarakhand State Govt is planning to change rules and regulations within 3 weeks for camping on the bank of the ganga river. The National Green Tribunal has already banned camping on the bank of the Ganga until the state govt decide new rules and regulations for camping. The National Green Tribunal is serious about the pollution in Ganga. The camping on the bank of the ganga is very famous among the tourist specially near Rishikesh. 40 Kms stretch from Kaudiyala to Brahmpuri is most popular area for camping near Rishikesh. The decision of NGT has effected large number of people associated with camping as well as adventure tourism in the area. September to November and March to May are two major season in the year. This year due to the NGT decision Sep to Nov season is already gone which means the people are now waiting for the quick decision about camp license so they can earn some money in next season. If the decision will come late it will effect the business in (Mar Apr May) month which means for hundreds of people the whole year will be ruined without any earnings.
According to sources the govt will allow camps which is at least 100 meters far from river bank. Use of plastic can be also banned in camps. Apart from these camp must have proper waste management.
